The Power of the Name of Jesus

The Power of the Name of Jesus

The Power of the Name of Jesus: Why It Matters in Prayer and Life by Bishop Edward Brink.

The name of Jesus is the most powerful name in the world.

The Bible tells us that there is salvation in no one else but Jesus Christ, and that whoever calls upon His name will be saved. In Acts 4:12, we read, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

When we call upon the name of Jesus, we are calling upon the very person who died for our sins and rose from the dead.

In Philippians 2:9-11, we read, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The power of the name of Jesus is not just limited to salvation.

In John 14:13-14, Jesus Himself says, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” This does not mean that we can ask for anything and expect to receive it, but rather that when we pray according to God’s will and in the name of Jesus, we can be confident that our prayers will be answered.

Furthermore, the name of Jesus has the power to heal.

In Acts 3:6, Peter and John encounter a man who had been lame from birth. They say to him, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” And the man is instantly healed. The name of Jesus has the power to heal not just physical ailments, but emotional and spiritual ones as well.

It is important to remember, however, that the power of the name of Jesus is not something that we can wield for our own purposes.

In Mark 9:38-40, Jesus’ disciples come to Him and tell Him about someone who was driving out demons in Jesus’ name, but who was not one of their groups. Jesus responds, “Do not stop him. For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us.”

In conclusion, the power of the name of Jesus is immense. It is the name that brings salvation, the name that we pray in, and the name that has the power to heal. But it is also a name that we must use with humility and in accordance with God’s will. As we read in Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” The Power of the Name of Jesus: Why It Matters in Prayer and Life.
