Don’t underestimate the importance of your work, whether you are in a church, business, school, or any other context. 1 Peter 4:10-11 reminds us that we are gifted for ministry and authorized to fulfill the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20. Even Jesus Himself set an example of service in John 13:13-17, commanding us to follow His lead.

To be effective in our ministry, we must also be diligent in preparing ourselves, as stated in II Timothy 2:15. And we are accountable for our actions in II Corinthians 5:9-10, knowing that we will be rewarded for our faithful service in II Chronicles 15:7 and 1 Corinthians 15:58.

So, whatever your occupation, do it with the understanding that you are an important part of God’s plan for His Kingdom. Fulfill your calling and watch as God uses your work to bring glory to His name.

God has called each and every one of us to ministry. This doesn’t necessarily mean working for the church, but rather doing work that extends the Kingdom of God. It doesn’t matter whether you’re working in a church, a business, a school, or any other sphere or context, as long as you’re fulfilling the part that God has called you to within His Kingdom.

The Bible is full of verses that remind us of our purpose in ministry. We are created for ministry (Eph. 2:10), saved for ministry (II Tim. 1:9), called into ministry (I Pet. 2:9-10), gifted for ministry (I Pet. 4:10-11), authorized for ministry (Mt. 28:18-20), commanded to minister (John 13:13-17), to be prepared for our ministry (II Tim. 2:15), needed for ministry (Rom. 12:4-5), accountable for ministry (II Cor. 5:9-10), and rewarded for ministry (II Chr. 15:7; I Cor. 15:58).

Each and every one of us has a unique purpose in God’s Kingdom. It’s important to remember that there is no work that is more spiritual than another. Whether you’re preaching from the pulpit or working behind a desk, every task is important and valuable in the eyes of God.

So, take heed to the ministry that you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it (Colossians 4:17). Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Tim. 2:15). And always remember, your work shall be rewarded (II Chr. 15:7; I Cor. 15:58).

The power of the name of Jesus is not just limited to salvation.

In John 14:13-14, Jesus Himself says, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” This does not mean that we can ask for anything and expect to receive it, but rather that when we pray according to God’s will and in the name of Jesus, we can be confident that our prayers will be answered.

Furthermore, the name of Jesus has the power to heal.

In Acts 3:6, Peter and John encounter a man who had been lame from birth. They say to him, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” And the man is instantly healed. The name of Jesus has the power to heal not just physical ailments, but emotional and spiritual ones as well.

It is important to remember, however, that the power of the name of Jesus is not something that we can wield for our own purposes.

In Mark 9:38-40, Jesus’ disciples come to Him and tell Him about someone who was driving out demons in Jesus’ name, but who was not one of their groups. Jesus responds, “Do not stop him. For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us.”

But why should we strive for holiness? Why is it important? The Bible tells us that without holiness, no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). Living a life of holiness is not just about pleasing God, but it is also about our own salvation. We must work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12), and this includes striving for holiness.

Living a life of holiness is not easy, but it is worth it. We must set our minds on things above, put off our old self, obey God’s commandments, and strive for perfection in God’s eyes. Psalm 34:17 says, “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”
